You And Me
Maybe you're right
Maybe I'm giving up
Maybe tonight
Is the first time
I don't need you
To make it alright
And I thought
That would be alright
Maybe I'm letting go
Just a little bit
And maybe
It feels pretty damn good
Maybe you're wrong
Maybe I don't want you
The way I used to
But you weren't there
You were never there
When the flame went out
And I was left alone
In the cold
Waiting
By a phone
That never rang
I waited so long for you
For a dream
That never came true
So maybe you're right
Maybe I gave up
Because I had nothing left
To hold on to
Maybe you're right
Maybe I stopped
And backed up
Maybe I was all wrong
And maybe you were always strong
And maybe
I saw this coming all along
Maybe I wanted it to end
And maybe
I got sick of playing pretend
It doesn't really matter
Either way
When one of us
Doesn't want to stay
Doesn't feel the need
Or the lick of passion
Doesn't bleed
When the other leaves
Maybe
I just need me
And maybe
I'm okay with that
Maybe
I was in love once
And you beat it out of me
All this time
All the balancing
Always crossing the line
Resting gently on truth and lies
And maybe
I got sick
Of hiding
All the damn time
You were right
I did love you
I loved you a lot
But I forgot
To love myself first
And maybe
I'm just not okay with that anymore
So if you're not okay
And I can't make you okay
Then this love
Isn't okay
And I can't wait
For it to be over
So we can finally get there
Get back
To feeling better
And maybe
Just maybe
We can look back
And just maybe
You'll see
What I always saw
When it came to you and me
