You are never here
Dear Dad,
You are never here.
Even when I come down,
It feels as though you are never near.
You never show up when I need you around.
All the other students have both parents by their side,
My father is never to be found.
Time and time again you always lie.
Saying that now it has changed,
Then when you don’t show I cry.
You say you’d never leave me shortchanged,
And you make up some kind of excuse.
Your memory only lives in my mind.
I can’t even call you know because of the choices you choose.
Your new lifestyle has left you blind.
When you are that far out of civilization you know something is wrong.
Not again, now that I am grown,
I know never to listen to your fake news or song,
And the actions in which you are prone.
Please do not leave me.
Even when those times pull us further apart.
For this is my only plea.
Sincerely, Your Daughter
