You are something

You are nothing.

Why do you even try?

No one likes you.

They just pity you.

Some of the words that I have said to myself

Everyday.

Nothing positive.

I'm not perfect.

So much love and compassion around me,

yet I thought little of myself.

To me,

I was nothing more than dirt.

Many times I have been told,

"You are perfect"

"You're a genius" or

"You are amazing".

Not once

Did I take those as complements.

I just sat there,

And thought about how I'm nothing like what they say.

"If you don't treat yourself positively,

Why would you expect others to treat you that way"?

My mother would tell me,

And I began to think.

If others can see all of the positives about me,

Why was I seeing the negative?

What about me could be that horrible

For me to hate?

I have a loving, caring family,

My friends are there for me,

I have found love in my life,

My life could be worst.

Why was I not thinking of them,

when I was hating myself?

I wasn't thinking,

I just said what my demons told me...

....and believed them.

Not anymore...

I will not believe

Anything negative about myself

But...

I will believe

The people who care about me

And trust them

They seem to know me more than I know myself
