You are a woman

Are you there? I missed you

When I ask how your day was I’m really just asking did you think of me?

7:58 pm my phones goes off

It is a message from you telling me how cute I looked that day

A day you hadn’t even seen me

In my head I think  how many girls did he send that too,

How many girls did he think of before me,

How many times am I going to put him first while he puts me last

They say you knew what you were getting into, what did you expect

I expected the man I used to know, one who was caring and honest

One who liked me

I blamed who he was on society, on the pressures of growing up and fitting in,

When really there was no excuse for what he did

I would pour out my heart to him and cry until I felt no tears were left

Why won’t you answer me

Am I not important enough to you

I miss you

I would call him and he would say he couldn’t talk

I would text and he would say he’s not in the mood

Some might say overbearing but how would you feel if you were promised a man who would give you everything,

who made promises for months but when it came down to actual feelings he would ghost you

A man who told you he wasn’t seeing anyone except you

But then I would see his comments on girls pictures, comments I never got

Was it because he was ashamed of me

I began thinking it was my fault

Until I looked at the thriving relationships around me and realized

I deserve respect

I am not 2 I will not throw a tantrum at the idea of rejection

However, you are not allowed to play with girls like they are dolls,

we invest into you with the hope that you might change,

with the hope that one day you will wake up and realize we are more than just another number in your phone,

more than just that girl you text at 2 am or one of the many girls you text for nudes

We are more than a picture, more than an object,

We deserve to be heard and understand not pushed aside and ignored

We have a voice, we will stand up for ourselves, and we have a brain to decide if we will leave you

We may be upset now but I’m time we will begin to realize you were never a blessing, you will not be remembered as a sweet memory but instead a life lesson

Something we will learn from and never repeat again

So to the next girl remember you do not need to find your worth in a man who has no self worth

Remember you are who you want to be , you don’t have to be defined by a boy merely disguised as a man

You are a WOMAN, he is a boy
