you broke me

you stole my heart with your kind eyes and a smile that lit up my face when i saw it. you made me laugh until i cried. you hugged me and i felt safe. you held my hand and i felt like your forever. you kissed my lips and i fell harder in love each time. but then you broke my heart. and when i say you broke me i mean that you killed the person i once was. my eyes filled with tears every single second i thought of you. i no longer felt joy unless i was thinking of what was once us. the sadness overcame me. i was an empty soul waiting for something to bring me back to life. waiting for you to come bring me back to life. and then one day the pain no longer took over my whole body. i no longer needed to be with someone of all times of the day. i no longer searched for you in other people. i started to learn how to love life again. i started to fall back in love with myself. i became secure with the person i was. i became a better version of myself. a version you will never see. but i knew the best version of you. you broke me, you broke me into a million pieces. but then i picked up those pieces and put them back together all by myself. and for that i thank you, for breaking me.
