You Can Handle Me
I have yet to know you, or at least know who you are
But that doesn’t worry me, I believe your name is on my heart
See, I believe that God made you, to fit perfectly with me
And so I have no fear that He will bring you exactly when we need
Tonight I asked a question “Jesus, can he love?”
He stopped me though, and answered with “Stop it, you’re enough.”
I am coming to you broken, I am coming to you bruised
I just wanted you to know, in case I ever am confused
If ever I question you, or cannot understand
It’s because my heart can’t comprehend a healthy, loving man
Twisted lies and promises have kept me in a cage
But God has spoken life to me, and given love a brand new name
I know that you’ll take care of me, even when we make mistakes
Neither one of us is perfect, but we’ll keep loving anyway
Tonight I’ll make a promise, to never question your capacity to love
Because I know that I’m forgiven for everything I’ve done
And because of who my God is, and who He’s created us to be
I know my heart can handle you, and you can handle me.
