You Can Run

I too have strong legs

Like Shakira

And her mother before

To use to run

Run for cover

Run

Run from all of you

Run

Run so far away

That your glares

That haunt

And whispers

That taunt

Will seem

Like nothing more

Than a hint

A lingering hint

Of a memory

That’s not quite there

But I will not

Will not run

No!

Not from you

And I will not

Will not hide

Or overt my eyes

Or hang my head

No, not for you

For you

I will bear

Bear the weight

Upon strong shoulders

Bear the pain

Yet stronger shoulders

Feel the pain

And feel my strength

Grow stronger

And stronger
