You Cannot Grade Me
Grades freaking suck!
If it were up to me,
I wouldn't give a flying duck.
But its up to the D.O.E.
Unfortunately.
They say grades are important,
Influential and essential.
Yet they are such a torment
Fearful and tearful.
Report cards should come with a warning label.
“May cause you to become unstable.”
Or flip over a table,
Just because, you just weren't able.
Because with all this stressing,
And blind obsessing.
Grades are just a number.
But its the biggest encumber.
When I get my report card,
You can tell math was a little hard.
But I went to my teacher,
and asked, did you add my best feature?
Did you average in my manners?
Or was it just based on answers?
How did you grade my dedication?
Or did you not include that in the equation?
How did you grade the hours spent studying,
And the games missed for tutoring?
Did you take my attitude into consideration?
Wow, there's not even a spot for that in the evaluation!
What about the obstacles at home I had to overcome?
Or was that not added to the sum?
How about the the 3 trains and the bus ride?
Or was that grade also set aside?
It is really quite a shame.
That our grades become our name.
Because by now you probably see,
You cannot grade me!
