You Can't Spell Poetry Without "Try."

I see now for me that poetry is my beginning and my end.

My most trusted and valuable outlet; it is my best friend.

When music first touched my ears, it was the voice that spoke words

which were the ones that drove me to write my own to be heard.

It began with a pencil on a loose-leaf sheet of paper,

then my fingers pushing buttons on a keyboard, making me feel greater.

Then by some chance, I lost everything I had.

All that I thought would be good had literally gone bad.

So I rebuilt from the bottom up, with a pencil in hand,

and started writing in a notebook, doing my best to understand.

That you could put everything into something and end up losing it all;

but it doesn't have to end there, and you can rise from any fall.

Every day now, when inspiration rings in my head,

out comes the notebook and pencil, and I even write with lead.

The only way I can pour my heart out is through writing;

it's convenient since it's one perspective so there's no fighting.

After a page is filled and I feel I have done enough,

it reminds me that I have abilities that make life not so rough.

I'm quite sure I'll still be doing this near the end of my life.

It's my best friend forever... the only one who knows that I try.
