You Can’t Love Me

My Love,

Lying in this bed I’ve made

There is nothing left to say

It's because of me that everything's this way

Regrets of the past, fears of the future

The guilt inside growing like a tumor

As the end creeps up, sooner and sooner

Slowly killing, the silent abuser

Pride lifts and puffs to heights above all

Until all that's left is the biggest of falls

Crashing and burning everything I once knew

Until all is ashes and I must begin anew

But where do I start? I have not changed

I’m still the same man, I’ve turned no page

The scars from the fall still scream my name

Yet I don't listen, waiting for a new game

Abandoned by all, I can see my plight

I always thought it would never happen twice

The pedestal broken, I want to submit

But my mind is the only unforgivable sin

It returns to what I was always trying to flee

Now just a shadow of everything I will never be

Only Cold, hard, shallow...empty.
