"You Choose"

I walked

tall oaks wafting in the gusts

and I walked.

My destination unknown,

My feat of greatness unfounded.

Blue jays caressing my ears with their melodious chirps

thoughts of sunset filled serenities,

and I walked.

Away from destruction and despair, sorrow and strife.

Sullen faces and deteriorated homes.

No glancing into the forgotten, no retracing pasts.

Leave.

all that is to be left

which surpasses all notions to stay

and I walked.

Expired contentedness,

entangled by the vines

suffocating in the cocoon of my weary soul

I have to keep going

and I walked.

Lavender, coral, sunflowers, fire,

Elegant horizons await.

under the constellation lit heavens,

waves ripple conforming with the now,

and yet I still walked.

I mustn’t dwell.

Mistakes are inevitable,

death is inevitable.

Life is inevitable

But to live is not

So instead I chose to run.
