Before You Date Me
Here is a list I made of 5 things to know before you date me
Because no one ever felt the need to ask out me
No, I’m not bitter, but I have learned
Some things about myself that I wish 12 years ago you could have heard
#1 I have probably never done this before
And by this I mean the dating thing.
You know that thing that is supposed to make your heart sing.
Well, my heart is doing acrobatics from my toes to my head.
So please be careful with what you will say and have said.
#2 I have built up walls because I lack trust
So please break down those walls. You must.
I want to let you in.
Believe me, I do,
But you have to earn my trust before I let you come running through.
#3 I know the difference between the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I have seen it all, so don’t try to hide it from me
And if I call you out on it, that means it’s bad
I hate confrontations because I find them sad
#4 I’m a secret hopeless romantic, but I’ll never believe in love at first sight
To many people have divorced afterwards and caused me fright
But I’m still here waiting for you to sweep me off my feet
Because despite trying to hide it, I’m still a hopeless romantic. You see?
#5 When I start loving you, I’ll never stop
So please don’t let my heart flop
On the ground that is, because I might never recover
And the girl you once found you may never rediscover
So now that I’ve told you this, do with it what you please
If you still want to date me, please feel free
But if you don’t then don’t worry, I’ll find someone better
Better than you ever could have been forever
