you deserve better than me.

“you deserve better than me.”

she said with

tears in her eyes.

cuts on her thighs.

an aura of sadness swarming around her.

I don’t know what it is about me.

Maybe it’s the mediocrity of my looks.

or the burns on my hands.

the scars of past lovers soaked into my skin.

redeeming qualities like those

that makes her say

“you deserve better than me.”

you you you

me.

who is me, without her.

without her truthful eyes.

without her soft touch.

without her full on rants about how much she “hates that bitch”

no matter who that bitch, today, may be.

what would i do without the lust in her eyes when my hand slowly slides up her shirt.

her soft lips that leave a lasting impression.

her cute teeth that are as straight as her.

her smile that holds warmth.

her use of words that i have never even heard before.

her.

her.

her.

“you deserve better than me.”

she says, almost in a way that is trying to tear herself down.

so I lift her up.

Kiss her.

There’s no such thing as someone better

when there is her.
