You Do Not Have to be a Dectective

I had seen her around school

Never gave her much attention

Thought she saw me as a fool

I began talking to her to relieve tension

I was unfamiliar with self-harm

But to her, it was all too familiar

She had undying charm

Too beautiful to go that far

She told me how she felt alone

Thinking she wasn’t good enough,

Thinking she wasn’t well known

Life was all too tough

She showed me a different type of pain

The kind within

The kind you cannot tame

When you don’t want to let anyone in

But she let me

And I loved her with honesty

She showed me how others hurt

How people threw others to the dirt

She showed me a new perspective

That you did not have to be a detective

But the day she went askew

Was the day I turned blue
