you (don't) know who you are (anymore)

well that was short-lived and i knew it would be anyways.

you promised.

you promised,

but i’ll always be someone's secret.

something good is only good if it's only just for you

and you said it was nice having someone there,

but do you know that i need someone too?

i’m not a picture that you took on a disposable camera.

i’m not a beautiful fleeting moment that you just have to capture

until the film develops and you see that it didn't turn out quite as perfect as you thought it would.

(i’m just not what you remember)

i’d like to believe that if your name illuminated my screen right now i wouldn't get that all too familiar feeling in my stomach

but i know that's not true.

you burn like sour lemonade in my throat.

my stomach is a snow globe filled with acid and a miniature display of your broken promises.

i get attached like a firefly to night and i wish i didn't need you around to feel like i’m glowing.

well guess what?

the glass is broken and now i see

that love is much more than a glow and a flame.

there is passion, but you have to do more than display it.

it's a connection.

i don't need your electricity, your faulty wiring.

and that, i promise myself.
