As You Grow
Growing up may be hard for you
but it is something that we all must do.
Everyone does it in their own way;
see, you are doing it now, minute by minute,
day by day.
As you turn older and try new things,
you'll soon begin to spread your wings.
Don't worry what the future has in store;
the present has so much more to see and explore.
Avoid dwelling on the happenings of the past,
for in time you'll begin to see at last
that grudges and prejudices only serve to hold you back.
Refrain from partaking in other's petty strife,
instead focus on all the wonderful things in your life.
Despite what people may say or do,
keep your head, don't lose your cool.
While it may be hard not to fight,
restrain yourself with all your might.
For if you succumb, you are just as bad
as the person who has made you mad.
You may think that this reasoning is dumb
but I know you'll understand in years to come,
since you will be an amazing woman who's all
grown up.
