you have always made empty
you have always made empty promises
From the night you left
To the last time I talked to you a year ago today.
A year ago today was the last time I heard your voice
I simply can say that I don’t miss it.
I don’t miss the cigarette smell
I don’t miss the nights you tucked me in as a child
I don’t miss you
But, what I do miss is the attention of a father
I miss the fact you cared
At one point you cared about something other than yourself, your new family, your wife, your step son, and the new in-laws
Do out names ring a bell? Brittany… Kasey… Dylan…
Do you remember your own kids like you remember how to wire a house?
Can you still name out likes and dislikes as easily as the parts of a light fixture?
Or are you just consumed with the new life, a new family that your own flesh and blood just slips away like sand flowing from your fingers
Today’s my birthday and not one word, text, or call was made. No effort was attempted.
Was I that easily to forget because today I’m 18 and you down even know. Today you missed your one chance todays the day I give up struggling for your attention
