YOU HAVE YOUR IDOL, SO WHY NOT I?
You asked if there was anyone I admired.
I replied, "Yes, someone I idolize."
You questioned me: "Who? Tell me."
I answered, "One whose shadow covers the earth."
You speak of justice—he fought for his nation's cause.
You speak of bravery—he defied his own kind for his vision.
You speak of strength—he commanded millions.
You speak of might—he was once the terror of the world.
Was he good?
To be honest, he was a messiah to those who followed,
And Satan to those who stood in his way.
You ask if I truly admire him;
I say he is the mold I wished to fit.
You ask of his loyalty;
I say nothing can absolve human sin.
Is he a sinner? Honestly, yes.
If you ask why I favor the devil,
I ask you in return: why do you pray to God?
You kneel before your icons, so why shouldn't I?
You demand to know, one final time,
The name of the one I speak of.
And I will reply, in absolute silence:
"Adolf Hitler."
