You Before I

The reason that I love you is simply very clear, 'cause when I am around you I can feel no fear. Enfolded in your arms, warm in your embrace, all of my troubles I know I can face. Since you are my darling and my dear I know I can give you my heart and that I can make a start at learning to put you before I, and you become a part of a love shared by us. A love not of control but to uplift. We are not adrift, we can help each other and be there for another. Every person has their rifts and together we can help to heal the scars that mere human hands cannot feel. You are my confidante and I trust you more than myself because you are my better half. I can never forget the way you have refined me like steel.
