You Know What I Mean?

If you are a minority you know: Your skin color is your crime, pigment the evidence, closing a case you could never win. If you are a minority you know: 21st century racism is a carbon monoxide-like killer, spreading through the air lacing animosity for those who have done nothing. If you are a minority you know: just how real racism still is and how they say “racism no longer exists.” If you are not a minority you believe: The issues that come with the tint in their skin are fairytales, as real as unicorns, or the boogie man. But if you are a minority you know of too many cases where this is not true. If you are a minority you know: you can get pulled over for DWB (driving while black). If you go to college and get a degree all of a sudden those who said “They can’t learn” are liars. You are the proof that makes the noses of those Pinocchio’s grow. They always said you were a misfit. This struggle can turn you into a holistic statistic. Or you can stand up, be a man, a minority, an outcast, underprivileged, a statistic, and get organized. Make a plan, or two, or three. If you are a minority you know: you have the capacity and audacity to do whatever it takes to get where you want to go. The world is yours, take it!
