you know what you know

your instincts protested,

kicking and screaming while you marched with brazen determination

who gave you the boldness to be so brash?

the audacity to ignore your gut feeling and proceed without caution?

you were never sure, but you had to pretend to be

to put on a brave face lest you betray the false confidence

that you spent so much effort building up

in hopes that it one day would become real

who were you trying to convince?

to pull a fast one on?

you couldn't even fool yourself

much less the person who need persuading

knowing better but not doing better

hoping

your sixth sense wasn't tingling without reason

you know what you know.
