Before You Leave

How desperately I wished that you were not the answer to this question

for there are plenty of things I should hold more dear to my heart than a boy with a dilapidating smile

and misleading viridescent eyes.

Such a crippling thought it is know that I could not live without your presence,

for you could cease to exist at any given time,

but you ease the strain of my mind in which would be too much of a weight to bear if you were ever to abandon it.

It is frowned upon, I know this, to place your self-worth into the palm of another,

for everything you are is temporary,

but you put meaning behind the colorless life I used to own and painted my future in hues of hope and wonder.

How desperately I wished you were not the answer to this question,

for it is selfish of me to place such a responsiblity on your shoulders.

I could not live without you,

the mere thought of it slows my heart.
