You Loved Me Like You Meant It

You Loved Me Like You Meant It

It started off small, a little crush

We would walk by each other and smile,

and make small talk

It was nothing, but words

What started off small, grew more and more

An occasional dinner was a step forward

Talking more and more, saying all the right things

Being completely honest, even when it wasn’t what I wanted to hear

Was it something more than just words?

Then suddenly we realized, it was more than just talking

I was made aware of how you felt when you first embraced me

and never wanted you to let go

The first time we laid close with your arms around me,

Making me feel so protected and so cared about

The first time we kissed like we were the only two in the world

I was yours and you were mine

You constantly made me feel like the most special girl in the world

You cared about me and what I longed for

You sacrificed what you wanted, all for me

You made time for us to be together

You hugged me like you meant it

You kissed me like you meant it

You loved me like you meant it.
