you made it.

Dear younger me,

We made it.

You made some lifelong friends.

Kept some old ones

Let some others go. But it was all good

All natural.

You’ll get into some fights.

But they end.

And you will quickly mend.

You discover a love for musical theater

You make friends there

You find a home there

You are let down by some cast lists.

Elated by others.

You were a sweet little baby bear

A snarky elephant mom

A mischievous monkey

And to end it all, you were a bookish princess who taught that the theater is in fact your home.

You cried. A lot.

You learned from your tears.

And you laughed again.

The boys?

Irrelevant now.

You’ve grown

And moved past it all

Now here we are again,

A freshman.

But in a new yet similar situation.

I don’t feel like I belong again

Or as if I deserve what I’ve been presented with.

But so did you.

Four years ago

But you got through it

And you’re here now

Here again.

But we’ll make it.

I know we will.
