You Never Even Cared

Dear Mom,

How can I even call you

That

You were never even there

All the times

I needed a mom

You weren't there

All the things a mother is supposed to be

Caring

Supportive

Reliable

One would think

But you thought

Different

Do you even remember you have kids?

Do you ever think about us?

I don’t even get a call

Do you even remember

My birthday

Do you even care

That you never see me

Never ask about me

Probably never even talk about me

My heart has broke one too many times

Hardened by distrust

I can’t trust you

Not a word you say

Betrayal are the words you speak

And yet I'm the one in the wrong

You twist my words like the trunk of an aged oak

I can’t even look you in the eyes

There’s nothing there

Not a relationship

Not love

Just annoyance

That you are wasting your time spending it with me

You look past me

I used to want you to notice me

To love me

I used to want a mom

Mom is a strong word

One you don't deserve

I call you that

But in my head

I know

I never needed you

I was fine

Without you

I will be fine

Without you

I don't need you anymore

Your daughter
