You said
You made me feel like I was on top of the world.
Like no one could touch me.
No matter what happened we stuck togeather.
We loved like no one else existed.
We forgave each other for our short comings.
Because we knew we were in this togeather.
The love of storybooks and shitty rom com movies.
You said I didnt need anyone but you.
So I gave you everything and blocked out the rest of the world.
You said it wasn't that you didnt trust me.
You just didn't trust anyone else.
So I gave you open access, full control.
I just wanted you to be happy.
You said you would kill yourself if I ever left.
And you tried.
So I came running back to save you.
You said you couldnt live without me.
So I swore I'd stay no matter what.
You said it was a mistake.
We were young and how could a man be with one person forever.
You said it wouldnt happen again.
I believed you.
I believed you again and again.
Because you loved me.
You started getting angry.
But that was okay.
Because it meant you cared.
You said you had too much to drink.
You never meant to hurt me.
So I covered the bruises.
Because I knew people wouldnt understand.
They didn't know our love like I did.
You said I was worthless without you.
As you held the broken glass to my throat.
You were right.
