You told me to be myself But stopped me when I did You told me to be free But kept me in a cage You gave me the freedom to choose But still push me on which way You said I could give my opinions But then dismiss me if I have something to say At first I thought I was lucky When I heard all your promises I thought I could finally be me But then you went and called me a mess
