You See, Little Girl

You speak to a little girl and tell her she's beautiful.

And not to let anyone tell her otherwise.

You see, to this little girl, your words are powerful and meaningful.

There's a sense of admiration twinkling in her eyes.

You tell her that the world is going to kick her when she's down.

And just when she thinks it can't get any worse, she's wrong.

But you see, little girl, you can't let them see you frown.

Because that is what makes them feel strong.

You see, people won't always treat you the way that you wish they would.

They'll say horrible and nasty things.

You'll have to show them you did better than they could

And that with joy, your heart still sings.

Because little girl, you are one of a kind.

And one day you won't be so little at all.

So show them that you're better than how they see you in their mind.

Stand up strong, and stand tall.
