you sensed it

there is no conceivable way that you could have known about my home life

yet

you sensed it

maybe you did not know everything

but

you sensed it

something behind a facade

it was not always a mask i wore, most days i would be happy

you sensed it

no questions were asked

genuine smiles were exchanged every day making things feel better

you sensed it

my change

you knew that i was striving to be better because i started talking in class

at the end of the year

i was sad to say goodbye as were many other of your students

to my erstwhile teacher: thanks for everything
