you smell what the block is cooking

summer is here, block is hot block is boiling, block is cooking no im not saying food, im saying the streets of the bronx for instance southern blvd, the blvd of broken dreams grand councourse, the concourse not grand; takes 5 mins just to walk one block jerome ave, the avenue of crackheads webster ave, the avenue that needs to extend words from webster dictionary 3rd avenue, the avenue that lets just say is pass webster ave westchester ave, certainly not westchester county fordham road, road that leads to a dead end this summer is definitely going to be hot not because of the sun but because of ignorant people who forever hangs out in the hood knowing they are up to no good

It was interesting how you took ideas like temperature and cooking and turned them into people and places. You make the reader think about basic ideas in very different ways, which is a wonderful skill for a poet to have.
