You taught me everything
You taught me everything.
How to persevere through hardships,
to walk through the fray,
through the fire that began to engulf our world,
shy away from the hate,
and hold my head up high,
even when the world threatened to demolish me,
brick by brick.
You taught me everything.
How to laugh in danger's retched face,
when the light goes out
and the dangers of the night start to emerge,
to be strong even in the darkest hour
when tempations test,
I am strong because of you.
You taught me everything.
How love makes the wounds of yesterday heal,
a strong bond between mother and daughter
that can never be broken.
You taught me everything, and I thank you.
