You Were There
You were there,
I could talk about anything,
I could talk about certain things,
I could talk about nothing.
My mind, my mind,
didn’t know this was wrong,
because you said you loved me,
because you were my best friend.
You loved me for who I was,
mostly who I was,
sometimes who I was,
ocassionally who I was.
Just sit and listen,
sit and listen,
“you are an idiot”
“what is wrong with you”
Get it together,
I need to get it together,
everything is fine,
just smile like always.
This can’t be love,
love is understanding, listening,
love is not fear,
love is not lonely.
It is over, you are gone now,
but there is a mark left here
because you said you loved me,
because you were there.
