This is for You (You Know Who You Are)
She stands there in the corner waiting
Stands still beckoning to me like we’re dating
But I remember the thrills of that first awakening
My fingers warm against her cool.
I fell for her light touch
My ordinary stray caress
Devoids her of dampening dress
Opening her lid,
And she sounds to the hall that I’m her lover like no other.
Lest you think ours is a one-way relationship,
Know that to me she gives companionship,
A release from worldly norms and
Immolation of earthy forms
Only to rest in sonic sound-scape
Where a simple press delights
And a pedal puts all wrongs right.
She is my Wiley temptress,
A romance on three legs,
Albeit a little brittle about the tuning pegs;
But forgiven is a stray buzz and vibration
When she sounds forth the river of racket I’m making.
My baby grand piano.
