Young Adult

Young Adult

See now that's such a contradiction
Because were young but were older
Always having to do what were told
But on the other hand making bold decisions
Like what were doing for the rest of our lives
Sometimes having to smile with the knives put in our backs by fake friends
Man I hate fake friends
I guess it's the price paid for being a young adult

We have no place
Were judged by our youthful faces
Ask for some freedom, they don't budge
Join the army?
They'll give us a nudge in the right direction
Don't ask too many questions
But ask the right questions
Stop guessing and actually know
That's being a young adult

Cmon you're 18 you should know this by now
You're only 18 you don't know how
Life, enjoy while it's easy
You don't take life seriously enough
You think you can breeze by?
Wait till you have bills, knee high
You're gonna need to start paying some bills around here
You're not of age what are you doing drinking beer?!

Parents always say "back in my day.."
Highlighting their prime
Yet forgetting the time when they were young
When they had measly teenage struggles
What it was like to sift through rubble of their faults
I guess they forgot what it was was like to be a young adult
