Young & Naive

Young & naive, yeah that was me
You're sky blue eyes oh how I was mesmerized.
In the playground you captured my heart,
And to think we were only in kindergarten
It was all innocent & pure my 1st crush was you.

Young & naive I was a hopeless romantic
You're honey brown eyes oh how my feelings were gigantic
How'd you stop by my house & we'd play pretend
Oh yeah I forgot to mention we were only eight
Best friends side by side an unspoken bond we had made.

Middle school oh that was something,
A bad boy pretending to be my prince charming
I knew better, I was smarter than that
But what could I say he just blew me away
I kept my guard up and we grew apart.

High school came along & I hadn't learn a thing
My poor heart was still young & naive
When I meet him he became my every thing
I only had eyes for him even though he only saw friendship
What could I say it wasn't meant to be, I still had childish dreams.

The heart wants what the heart wants
Even if it meant someone completely different
I caught his eye & he became my bull’s eye
Everything was sweet as peaches or so i thought
I was only left with a broken heart.

It’s all good I've lived & I've learned
From each experience I’ve gain something new
My heart is still beating this time to a whole new beat
Happy as could be yeah that's the new me.
Still young but no longer naive.
