Your Actions Taught Me More Than Your Words

Crumpled and torn away from these branches

These feelings have began to fall this fall

Once a bright summer green became ashes

You were once a maple tree oh so tall

Seasons change, just like our emotions fade

Smaller and smaller you started to be

Mess and less promises of plenty made

Was your sweet syrup made from using me?

Like the wind whist’ling tunes, you chimed away

No longer did your clever words hold reign

After fall, comes the cleansing like new days

It’s better to feel numb that to feel pain

Snow lightly covered the path to your tree

You are now just a distant memory
