Your Better Half

Dear Slumpy,

Does she even know your name?

Or how it came to fame?

She might know your body, but never your soul

Has she seen the parts darker than coal?

Or have you hidden those as well?

The perfect southern belle,

The preacher’s daughter, dating

The boy who loves skating

And smoking marijuana.

I knew the ins and outs of your soul,

Especially the parts darker than coal.

Now I can’t seem to recognize you beneath your masks.

What will you do if she asks,

“Who is Slumpy?”
