Your biggest downfall

So strong, confident, independent
Not afraid of anything
You took on the world
Cared more for others than yourself
That was your biggest downfall
People consumed you from the inside out
Taking advantage, using you
Ripping every piece of innocence from your soul
Like vultures ripping away at road kill
They didn't care, and eventually
You didn't either
Everything that you've believed in
The very person that inspired me
It's gone. She's gone
All I see is a figure
Filled with not spirit, happiness and love
But with sleeping pills, liquor and pain killers
Your demons have taken over
But I still hold on hoping you'll come back
To the woman, the mother you once were
You've taught me to believe in something
And I believe you will find yourself again
Along with your strength
Your confidence
Your independence
Your soul
