From Your Collateral Damage
Dear Heart,
You used to comfort me,
Inspire me,
Fluter when I was excited,
And give me hope.
You used to make me think of princes,
Fancy dresses,
Chocoate on Valentine's Day,
And future candle lit dinners.
But then you turned your back on me,
Broke me,
Shatterd me,
And squeezed every bit of happiness out,
I no longer looked forward to seeing my friends
You told me I had none.
When I looked in the mirror you whispered,
"No one stays
Get used to it.
Everyone leaves.
Quit hoping."
So I stopped.
I listened until I no longer wanted to wake up
To breathe
To exist.
Every breath I take,
Your shattered pieces pierce me.
You pump blood through me to keep me alive,
But what's the point when I've alread died?
My ribs are supposed to cage you in,
But they don't seem to be working.
Everything I once looked forward to,
No longer seems important.
So, Heart, I ask one thing:
Please stop,
Just for a second,
Let me breathe.
Let me feel happiness again,
Even if I don't know how.
I don't want to die,
So please stop killing me
Sincerely,
Your Victim
