Your father, By Mother.
She said oh son, do you see him?
yes, that man
with the blazing fire behind his eyes,
lips that sing,
and galaxies on his skin.
His hands are strong and caring,
his word soft and humble,
and his arms carry the sun around
so others won't have to see a dark day.
His voice cures and oh
how he makes ones soul dance across
his fingertips.
She said oh son, he is your father.
yes, that man
who's fire sometimes yearns to give out
that man whose lips are dry at times,
and his stars curse him.
His hands are calloused and forever trembling
the words will trip and fall from his lips like tired poetry
his arms will ignite in flames at the weight of the sun
his voice will crack when hes close to tears,
and his soul will shake at times too.
she said oh son, all of this makes him
yes, makes him
the greatest father
him who puts others in front of himself
he who loves with the might of a thousand dreams
he who laughs with joy even when none is present,
all of these things son, makes him
the best man I know and
the man I love.
