your gain, my loss

a black girl,

in a white world.

its like a constant maze.

go left,

no, now right.

at this point,

im in a daze.

never correct,

always wrong.

but in your eyes,

it shouldn’t phase me.

just ‘keep your head up’

or ‘change what im doing’

and itll all be okay.

but no,

im tired of you getting credit for all of my great ideas.

you take and you take from my fountain of greatness and expect me not to be pissed.

but oh ‘ill be fine’ right,

all i have to do is make a small ‘shift’.

No, thats all done with,

now im truly mad.

I need my respect,

and oh yeah, give me back everything i had.

my ideas,

my style,

my speaking,

my talents.

let it be used at my command.

and i know it may be hard

to find your own originality

but taking mine,

thats not gonna work.

so with that i must say,

please learn from these mistakes

because next time,

ill be even more hurt.

ive got one last question,

something ive never felt.

howd it feel,

to not work,

or claw

for your respect,

and have everything

in your life given ?

is it nice?

more calm?

or maybe even boring?

to never have to work for your own 1st place trophy?
