Your Impact on My Life

Your Impact on My Life Throughout my lifetime you’ve giv’n ev’rything, Ensuring that I walked into life prepared. No longer will I ever to you cling. Although quite frankly I’m a little scared. This new adventure very diff’rent be; I’ll use your knowledge to my benefit. Both of your minds you’ve given and taught me. For that I’ll have the will to never quit. One day soon I’ll be older and quick blink, And be left wishing I’d shown gratitude. Impacting my life so I’ll never shrink In the face of a challenge I pursued. Without you helping me along my way, I’d never be the girl I am today!

This poem is a sonnet I wrote for my parents. As graduation gets closer and closer, I am beginning to realize the young woman I am becoming is based on how they raised me and all they have done for me. They truly have been the most impactful people on my life, and for that they are what matters most to me, and I will never forget it.
