YOUR LOVE

If love is meant to be freeing

Then why does yours feel so conditional

So restricting that it wraps tight around me

Tightening to the point of suffocation

Constraining the parts of me you couldn’t learn to love

Sanding down the parts of me that failed to fit your mold

Accepting your love was equivalent to hating my favorite parts

Sometimes I wondered if you even knew me at all

Or if all you knew was the image that you projected onto me
