Your Name

I think I can handle this
I thought I was strong
But every moment that passes
I discover I am wrong
I have to concentrate furiously
So that i don’t drown
In the pain
Of remembering ... remembering
your name

How do i control
These feelings I’ve had
Since the first moment, many weeks ago
I met your image on that photo
Beside your name

I look back on all the anticipation
I felt with every breath
And keystroke
Every chat and hour that went by
I thought about you
How my heart would soar
And my blood
Pulsate

I am handling this
I focus past the possibility of silly mistakes
I made
And try to see them as stones
That I tripped over
While listening to the sound of your name

I resist that sound to be like a sunset fading dream memory
I would so much prefer to bathe in your sunlight
For just a few more hours
A precious few sweltering hours
When your name
For a moment all at once meant everything to me
On a fiery mat of passionate, lovers embrace and fuelled desire

But now those flames lighting up not much else
Than a darkened
Empty cave
With a simple carving etched deep into the stone
I strain not to read it
I struggle not to see
But i cannot turn away
I cannot unsee
Your name burning deep
Deep withinside me.
