From Your Niece

Dear My Angel,

It’s been 6 months and 25 days since the news

6 months and 25 days since that shock and pain shot through my heart

6 months and 25 days since the day the tears continued to fall

6 months and 25 days since I realized what I carelessly overlooked

I now miss the things about you that annoyed me when you were here

I was taught something important

And you helped me by leaving me

Yet it damaged me the way you left me

You weren’t a saint

But you didn’t deserve what happened to you

We didn’t deserve to mourn what we had to mourn

It breaks me a little more every morning when I wake up to your absence

But the cracks seal a little too at the thought of where you are now

It’s hard to categorize this as a lose-lose?.. Or a win-win?

In my mind I picture your son

Grown. The future you

Life is appreciated more

Family is appreciated more

It still hurts

But I am okay

You’re not hurting anymore, so why should I?

You don't have to worry anymore, and that emotionally heals me

I hadn't said this to you in so long

I make sure it's said now

I love you

More then you’ll ever know

I always clearly seen you

But now..

I see you clearer than you'll ever know

To my uncle

Douglas “D.I.” Graham

From your niece
