As Your Nightmares Spill Into Waking Hours

As your nightmares spill into waking hours,
When it turns out it’s not only a dream
As your body betrays you and cowers
And your mind starts ripping at every seam

You can’t move yourself, not even to breathe
You stand still, weighted by a ton of bricks
Although your thoughts all scream for you to leave
In your ear, echoes all of the clock’s ticks

You’ll pinch yourself, hoping it isn’t real
You whisper not real, you almost believe
As you go mad, your fate locks with a seal
There’s not a minute, nor second to grieve

You may run, not hide, from all that you fear
That is life’s cruel sense-of-humor here
