Your Pieces
I couldn't point you out in a crowd
I don't remember your eyes
Or the sound of your voice
You left behind
You left me with no choice
No say in the matter
Back then
I would've given everything I had
To hold your hand
To call you dad
Or maybe I was looking for anyone to hold my hand
And love me
But it wasn't you
You couldn't do it
All those things I'll never know
All those times and places
I will never go
A man in the blue
It should've been you
It could've been you
Had you stayed
Had you loved me
The way you a father should
Maybe then
Just maybe we could've had it all
I wouldn't search for ghosts
Every night
And you wouldn't dream of the face
Of the daughter you could've had
But didn't
I'm so tired
So sick and tired
Of reaching for a man
For a hand
That will never catch me
The one who could understand
Will never be
You'll never love me
Not the way you should
Not the way I could
If I had the chance
Because I swear
Had you given me the chance
I would've loved you
Every piece
Because whether you like it or not
Your pieces
Lay within me
