Your Promise

Poised and ready to strike like a snake

Your hand whips above my face

Shh, baby, I didn't mean to hit you

I promise

Flashing eyes like a bull, ready to charge

Disdain peels your lips from your teeth

Never talk about him again and I'll forgive you

I promise

Cold and unwelcome like a snow in April

Your fingers creep into my wasitband

It's all just for fun, baby, come on

I promise

Laughter calculated like heartless math

Embraced as one of the boys at my expense

A piece of shit; I would never date her

I'm just kidding, baby, you know I love you

I promise
