Your reflection will be the death of you.

Waking up to a head full of pain and regret I slowly lift my bed sheets not wanting to leave the only safe place left Down the stairs I go ignoring everyone around me I look into the face of a girl I notice every blemish, freckle, and outline of her awkward but at the same time beautiful face Her eyes are filled with pain not even the new day can erase She looks down at every object that can be used as a weapon cringing at the thought Leaving the room as disappointed with herself as she was before The same routine every morning hoping for something more But nothing different ever comes It's just the same reflection every day She makes her way back to the room crawling back in her safe place Hoping that will make the pain go away It's hard to believe I can't help the closest person to me But she doesn't need my help, she just needs to be free

A poem about self doubt. An ongoing pain I see in most girls I know that needs attention. Tell someone they are beautiful today even if they deny it.
