Your Sacrifice for My Future
This may sound cliché,
But you are my greatest influencer in every way.
From our first meeting, you looked in my eye,
Through it, untapped potential none could deny.
Amazed by my intellectual skill,
You knew that, “Teaching this kid will be a thrill!”
Years go by and you’re always there.
Shaping and molding my mind with care.
Though struggles and frustrations abound,
You encourage and uplift with reason of sound.
Work, work on both ends of the spectrum;
The student: a lost child, and you there to guide him.
Nothing is more important to you than my success,
Always pushing me to do my very best.
Early in my life, math was a pain,
Tried and tried, but failure all the same!
Noticing my numerical struggle,
You left your career on the double!
Your body, sick and tired from grief,
The death of grandma, cancer wrought.
But any time I needed aid, I didn’t have to repeat.
You thought,
“His future is more important than my present.
I need to be there to aid in his ascent.”
Your feelings and circumstances,
Nothing else mattered!
“As long as I help my student become the master.”
